RENEWAL OF STANDARD PATENT
The applicants of the patent will start paying renewal fees from the fourth anniversary of the filing date, regardless of whether the patent has been granted yet or not.
Renewal fees are due each anniversary after that until the patent ceases.
For a standard patent, renewal fees increase incrementally and becomes payable on the fourth anniversary to the nineteenth anniversary. (Payable on the 20th to 24th- pharmaceutical patents only).
A standard patent will cease if the prescribed fees are not paid.
RENEWAL OF INNOVATION PATENT
Paying annual renewal fees for innovation patents starts on the second anniversary of the filing date. Renewal fees are then due each year up to the seventh anniversary of the filing date.
The maximum term of an innovation patent is eight years.
An innovation patent will cease if the prescribed fees are not paid.
